This project is the complete replacement of the Sisson Street Bridge over a CSX railway.

Construction will include a complete closure of Sisson Street between 24th and 26th Streets. The new structure will be a single-span bridge over the railroad tracks.

The clearance under the bridge will be greater than the existing conditions.

The funding for the project is a combination of monies from CSX Transportation, Maryland SHA, and Baltimore City DOT.

Why is the bridge being replaced?

Recent bridge inspections have revealed severe deterioration of the structure. Due to its condition, the bridge is currently closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Will the bridge utilize the same footprint?

The new bridge's footprint will mostly match the existing structure. However, due to current design standards, the new footprint is slightly bigger. The vertical profile will also be adjusted to allow for more clearance below the bridge.

How long will the bridge construction take?

The anticipated timeline for bridge construction is approximately 18 months.
