How did we evaluate parking?

Several studies were conducted during peak hours  (i.e. times where parking would be most utilized) to evaluate the feasibility of this project. While utilization can vary along the roadway, the study found that in all blocks the removed parking can be accommodated.

If I am not a biker, can I use this?

YES! Anyone can run, walk, wheelchair, scoot, or bike in the facility. We anticipate along this corridor the facility will be filled with more mixed modes of mobility than just bikes.

What benefits does this project bring?

This project aims to improve safety and transit access for all users and travel modes along the corridor. The cycle track enables the addition of bus bulbs, which will enhance ADA boarding accessibility, improve traffic safety, and reduce bus dwell times.

The project also offers future opportunities to create safer multimodal connections to Druid Hill Park and improve access to Cylburn Arboretum. Additionally, the cycle track can support broader goals by promoting social interaction and public health.

Where is the cycle track being placed and where is parking being kept?

The cycle track is being placed on the North bound (going uphill) side of the road. Parking is being kept on the South bound (going downhill) side of the roadway.
