What is this project?

We are making pedestrian improvements and traffic calming along a half-mile stretch of Hamilton Ave between Hazelwood Ave and White Ave. This is a residential area that also connects directly to Hazelwood Elementary School and the Gardenville Recreation Center, which is currently under construction.

What kinds of improvements are included?

The project will focus on safety, accessibility, and neighborhood connectivity. Planned improvements may include:

  • Curb bump-outs at crossings using flexible posts and striping

  • New speed humps and traffic restriping

  • Angled on-street parking and improved crosswalks

  • Additional signage

  • Sidewalk upgrades and ADA-compliant pedestrian connections

Why is this project important?

This section of Hamilton Ave is heavily used by students, families, and community members visiting the school and recreation center. By slowing down traffic and improving crossings, we are making the corridor safer and more welcoming for people walking and biking.

Where is this project located?

Hamilton Ave from Hazelwood Ave to White Ave, in Baltimore City Council District 2.
